Meesho Enhances Operations Through AI Implementation
SoftBank-supported Meesho is significantly increasing its implementation of artificial intelligence throughout its functions, with more than 70% of its programming now produced via AI technologies. As technology firms strive to enhance productivity and accelerate their processes, Meesho’s most recent shareholder communication indicates the extensive role AI plays in its fundamental operations.
AI Applications in Various Functions
CEO Vidit Aatrey mentioned that AI is currently being utilized in coding, testing, review processes, and deployment, facilitating quicker turnaround times for product development. The organisation noted that its platform experiments in the fourth quarter of FY26 have doubled in comparison to the previous year, showcasing faster iteration cycles.
Consumer Experience Enhanced by AI
On the consumer front, Meesho stated that over 75% of orders on its platform originate from AI-driven personalised feeds, rather than through traditional search methods. This change has resulted in an approximate 15% rise in conversion rates and a reduction of about 27% in the time needed for new seller listings to gain visibility.
Voice Commerce Innovation
The company is also exploring voice-enabled commerce through its assistant, Vaani. In just the first month, this feature attracted around 1.5 million users, with a 22% increase in conversion rates among those who adopted it. Almost 79% of users indicated that using voice made their shopping experience simpler, especially for those who are more comfortable with regional dialects.
Structural Advantages of AI
In terms of infrastructure, Meesho reported that its proprietary machine learning stack operates at a cost that is approximately 60-70% lower than similar cloud-based services, all while processing over 6.4 trillion inferences at peak demand. Furthermore, the company has incorporated AI into its logistics, with its Geo-India model enhancing geocoding precision by roughly 20 percentage points.
User Growth and Financial Performance
Meesho had a user base of 264 million with 2.67 billion orders during FY26, primarily comprising users from smaller cities. However, it reported a deficit of Rs 1,357 crore, mainly due to ongoing investments in acquiring new users.
