Aiven Launches India Operations for AI-Ready Cloud Data Infrastructure

Finland-headquartered cloud data infrastructure company Aiven has commenced its operations in India, aiming to seize enterprise demand for AI-ready, cloud-agnostic, and open-source data platforms. The company has established its initial office in Bengaluru, which will serve as a hub for its wider Asia Pacific operations.

Aiven celebrated its entry into the Indian market with an event in Delhi, in collaboration with the Finnish Embassy. Currently, there are approximately 15 employees in India, and the company plans to bolster its workforce as its operations expand. Recruitment efforts will concentrate on sales, partnerships, customer success, solutions engineering, and various other functions.

Aiven is strategically positioning India as both a sales market and a component of its growth plan in the Asia Pacific region. With enterprises increasingly adopting cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, real-time analytics, and modern application architectures, Aiven is well-placed to meet these demands.

The company’s offerings include managed open-source technologies such as Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, OpenSearch, Valkey, and DataHub. Aiven’s platform empowers enterprises to efficiently operate data workloads across major cloud environments, significantly lessening the operational workload for internal engineering teams.

Aiven anticipates that AI and real-time applications will significantly drive the demand for robust data infrastructure solutions, as businesses require systems capable of processing, storing, and streaming data on a large scale.

Moreover, Aiven is adopting a partner-first strategy in India, focusing on collaborations with cloud providers, technology firms, consultants, and systems integrators. The company plans to actively engage with developer and open-source communities through various events, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and additional programmes.

Aiven positions its platform as an open data platform designed for production AI. It offers managed Kafka, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Valkey, OpenSearch, and DataHub within a unified control plane across AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and other cloud environments. This platform aims to support data and platform teams in implementing AI applications while minimising infrastructure overhead and reliance on a single cloud provider.
