Ajay Pratap Singh Steps Down as CEO of Absolute Sports

Ajay Pratap Singh has resigned as the CEO of Absolute Sports, which is a subsidiary of Nazara Technologies and manages the sports media entity Sportskeeda, after more than three-and-a-half years in the role. Singh took on the CEO position in November 2022, succeeding founder Porush Jain. Prior to this, he was the COO for two years and joined Sportskeeda as the Head of Marketing in November 2019. Before his tenure at Sportskeeda, Singh held various roles at Dainik Bhaskar Group and Tally Solutions.

In a post on LinkedIn, Singh expressed that the most rewarding aspect of his career was not just the impressive growth figures, but rather the culture developed within the organisation. He noted how every meeting or brainstorming session felt like reconnecting with friends from school or college. He mentioned he couldn’t remember a single day where he left the office feeling exhausted, stating that the team was uniquely different.

Additionally, he indicated that he is transitioning to a new phase in his career by mentioning that he is “officially moving to the other side of the table,” signalling the start of his entrepreneurial journey.

Expansion of Absolute Sports under Singh’s Leadership

During Singh’s tenure, Absolute Sports grew from just a single brand, Sportskeeda, to a diverse portfolio of eight brands covering sports, gaming, and entertainment through strategic acquisitions. The brands added include Pro Football Network, College Football Network, Deltia’s Gaming, Soap Central, TJRWrestling, ITRWrestling, and Primetimer.

Nazara’s Investment in Absolute Sports

Nazara acquired a majority stake in Absolute Sports for Rs 44 crore in 2019 and progressively increased its ownership, ultimately acquiring the remaining shares and achieving full ownership of the company in March 2025.

Financial Performance of Absolute Sports

The financial results for Absolute Sports indicated a 38.6% drop in revenue, falling to Rs 147 crore in FY26 from Rs 239.6 crore in FY25. The company has attributed this decline to a decrease in web traffic following Google’s core update in March 2025.
