AquaAirX Secures Rs 12.5 Crore in Seed Funding

AquaAirX, a deep-tech startup, has successfully raised Rs 12.5 crore in a seed funding round led by Rainmatter, the investment branch of Zerodha, founded by Nithin Kamath. Other participating investors include Prime Venture Partners, Wyser, and India Accelerator. The funds will be allocated to enhance the company’s core technology, focusing on autonomy in systems, reliability in air-to-water transitions, and improved sensing and communication components. Additionally, AquaAirX aims to bolster its engineering and research teams in robotics, autonomy, controls, and embedded systems, as highlighted in their press announcement.

About AquaAirX and Its Vision

Founded in 2024 by Jitendra Kumar Purnmal Saini and Gouthami T S, AquaAirX is focused on developing next-generation autonomous systems for amphibious and underwater operations, catering to both defence and high-value commercial sectors. The startup is engaged in creating amphibious drones that can seamlessly shift between flying and underwater tasks, along with a unique platform known as the Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (HAUV).

Technological Developments

Beyond its amphibious drones, AquaAirX is working on the HAUV for accurate underwater inspection, monitoring, and intervention. The startup is targeting both defence applications and high-value commercial projects. According to the Bengaluru-based enterprise, its solutions amalgamate advanced autonomy, robotics, and mission-focused designs to bridge critical gaps in maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, ultimately offering safer, more rapid, and cost-efficient operations.

Future Plans and Strategic Collaborations

AquaAirX is keen to strengthen its collaborations with both Indian and international defence partners. The startup plans to scale up large-scale trials and prepare for manufacturing, aiming to penetrate the defence and commercial markets by 2027. Over the past year, AquaAirX has reached Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 for its flagship amphibious platform.
