Astra Security Secures $2.7 Million for Growth

Security platform Astra Security has successfully secured $2.7 million in a growth capital round, which was led by Emergent Ventures. Other contributors included the Neon Fund, Better Capital, Blume Ventures, and PointOne Capital. This Delhi-based firm had earlier raised $120K in a seed funding round from Techstars and other investors back in 2018.

The new capital will be directed towards accelerating product development and enhancing its capabilities to identify vulnerabilities in cloud environments. Astra Security aims to intensify its commitment to utilising AI, enabling developers and security engineers to enhance security detections, according to a press release by the company.

About Astra Security

Founded in 2018 by Shikhil Sharma and Ananda Krishna, Astra Security operates as a cybersecurity SaaS company that aims to simplify the typically chaotic process of penetration testing with its innovative Pentest Platform. The sophisticated AI-driven vulnerability scanning engine of the company mimics hacker behaviour to conduct over 10,000 security assessments on applications. This platform not only enables businesses to rectify vulnerabilities promptly but also facilitates the transition from DevOps to DevSecOps through its CI/CD integrations.

Remarkable Achievements

In the previous year, Astra reported that its AI-driven pentest platform uncovered nearly 5,500 vulnerabilities on a daily basis for clients. This figure is anticipated to increase threefold by the year’s end. Many of its clientele, over 25%, comprised mid-sized and large corporations, including names like Loom, HackerRank, ITC, Olx Autos, Mamaearth, Muthoot Finance, Bonusly, Singapore Trade Exchange, Oscilar, the University of Cambridge, CompTIA, and Prime Healthcare.

Astra also claims that more than 800 engineering teams spread across over 70 countries currently leverage its AI-driven platform. This platform works continuously to replicate hacker behaviour, identifying vulnerabilities through swift detections. The offerings include PTaaS (Penetration Testing as a Service), a DAST vulnerability scanner, and an API Security Platform, all functioning cohesively to uncover over 13,000 vulnerabilities.

During the last year, Astra assisted its clients in discovering and prioritising the remediation of over two million vulnerabilities, which resulted in savings exceeding $69 million in potential losses tied to security threats.
