Astrotalk’s Impressive Growth in FY26

Astrotalk has reported remarkable growth with its net profit rising over 10 times to Rs 222 crore in FY26. This surge in profitability is supported by a 55% increase in revenue year-on-year, surpassing Rs 1,800 crore. A substantial portion of this increase can be attributed to international markets, where revenue rose 2.6 times.

Revenue Breakdown

The company’s revenue from operations escalated to Rs 1,823 crore in FY26, up from Rs 1,176 crore in FY25, as per the audited financial documents. Astrotalk, which operates a digital astrology platform, connects users with astrologers for consultations through chat, phone, and video calls. The revenue derived from consultations climbed 45% to Rs 1,657 crore in FY26, compared to Rs 1,139 crore in FY25, making up approximately 91% of total operating revenue.

International Contributions

International revenue soared to Rs 621 crore from Rs 236 crore, now accounting for 34% of total revenue, an increase from 20% the previous year. Revenue from India also grew by 28% to reach Rs 1,202 crore, while international markets contributed an additional Rs 385 crore, forming a major part of Astrotalk’s overall revenue growth.

E-commerce Expansion

Beyond consultations, Astrotalk has ventured into e-commerce with the Astrotalk Store, which retails certified Rudraksha, gemstones, crystals, and Vastu products through its platform and on major marketplaces like Amazon, Flipkart, and Blinkit. The revenue from this segment increased dramatically, growing 4.4 times to Rs 166 crore in FY26, up from Rs 37 crore in FY25.

Company Insights

Discussing the growth, Puneet Gupta, the founder and CEO of Astrotalk, stated that the aim was to create a diversified, global enterprise from India. He highlighted that now about a third of their revenue is generated from international markets, and the Astrotalk Store has successfully become a significant secondary income stream.

Expense Overview

Examining the expenses, it was noted that advertising and promotional costs more than doubled, reaching Rs 823 crore from Rs 337 crore, representing 52.2% of total expenses. This increase was due to intensified marketing efforts to bolster growth. Legal and professional fees also saw a 6.8% rise to Rs 550 crore from Rs 515 crore, which includes payments to astrologers for consultations.

Employee Benefits and Other Costs

In contrast, employee benefit expenses fell by 56% to Rs 63 crore from Rs 143 crore in FY25, attributed to a significant reduction in ESOP-related costs, which decreased to Rs 9 crore in FY26 from Rs 72 crore in FY25. Additional costs, such as software and website maintenance, payment processing fees, and shipping contributed to Astrotalk’s total expenditure of Rs 1,576 crore in FY26, a 38% increase from Rs 1,140 crore in FY25.

Astrotalk’s net profit reached Rs 222 crore in FY26, up from Rs 22 crore in FY25, even with substantial investment in advertising and marketing. The company’s diversification into e-commerce and international markets played a crucial role in this performance enhancement.

Financial Metrics

The return on capital employed (ROCE) and EBITDA margin improved to 30.8% and 13.83%, respectively. On a per-unit basis, Astrotalk spent Re 0.86 to generate one rupee of operating revenue in the last fiscal year. As of March 2026, the company held total current assets of Rs 653 crore, which included Rs 141 crore in cash and bank balances.

Astrotalk’s fiscal performance for FY26 reflects strong revenue advancements and a notable improvement in profitability, primarily fuelled by overseas market expansion and the growth of its e-commerce sector. Despite the upswing, the company faced increased advertising costs, which more than doubled, representing over half of its total expenses. While international ventures and the Astrotalk Store created new revenue opportunities, paid consultations remain the central aspect of its business. The critical challenge for the company will be sustaining growth while effectively managing customer acquisition expenses and diversifying its revenue sources.
