Astrotalk, a prominent astrology consulting startup, has appointed Deepak Khetan as the new Chief Financial Officer as it gears up for a public offering in the next two years. Khetan comes with a wealth of experience, having previously held the CFO position at GLS Group India, GlobalBees, and Edelweiss Financial Services. His extensive background encompasses financial planning, compliance, and investor relations.

In his role at Astrotalk, Khetan will manage the financial strategy, oversee risk management, and handle regulatory processes, all while focusing on preparing the firm for its initial public offering. Additionally, his responsibilities will include spearheading strategic investments, facilitating international growth, and establishing systems for sustainable long-term development.

Astrotalk’s Business Model and User Engagement

Operating on a revenue-sharing model with over 20,000 astrologers, Astrotalk boasts an impressive user base of 700,000 daily active users. The services offered are priced between Rs 10 and Rs 200 per minute, enabling broad accessibility. The company asserts that it is currently achieving an annual revenue run-rate of Rs 1,600 crore.

Significant Funding and Future Valuation

Having raised $14 million in June last year, Astrotalk has accumulated a total of $34 million in funding from Left Lane and Elev8 Capital. The company is also targeting a unicorn valuation in its next funding round, which highlights its ambitious growth plans.

Financial Growth and Performance Metrics

The firm, led by Puneet Gupta, has experienced robust growth over the past two years. An internal document reviewed by Startup Superb revealed that Astrotalk concluded FY25 with revenue of Rs 1,182 crore and profits surpassing Rs 250 crore. This represents a significant increase from FY24, during which the company reported Rs 651 crore in revenue and Rs 100 crore in profit.
