Basil Health has successfully raised $1.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The investment came from Whiteboard Capital, Brigade REAP, and the renowned Barbershop Fund, along with contributions from Deep Bajaj, Siddharth Kothari, among others. The company plans to utilise the new funds to broaden its presence across various cities, enhance its supply chain, and invest in brand development and team expansion, as highlighted in a press release by Basil Health.

The startup, based in Delhi, boasts over 70 live touchpoints and employs in-house IoT technology to ensure it produces standardised, café-quality fresh beverages at scale.

Basil Health aims to spearhead the next wave of organised fresh beverage retail in India. The startup’s IoT-enabled systems seamlessly mix fresh ingredients right in the cup, enabling the delivery of café-quality beverages accompanied by real-time monitoring and operational oversight.

Expansion Plans

The technology developed by Basil Health facilitates standardisation, improved profit margins, and distribution that goes beyond conventional retail storefronts. The brand aims to expand to 1,000 touchpoints within the next three years by leveraging a combination of kiosks and automated machines. Currently, Basil operates over 70 kiosks and automated machines situated across three regions: Delhi NCR, Bangalore, and Chandigarh. Its retail strategy integrates compact 50 sq. ft. kiosks paired with 8 sq. ft. plug-and-play automated beverage machines, ideally positioned in offices, hospitals, universities, and shopping malls.
