Beverage company Rio Innobev has successfully raised Rs 10 crore during its inaugural institutional fundraising in a pre-Series A funding round. This round was spearheaded by Atomic Capital, with additional contributions from various investors. The company has indicated that the newly acquired funds will be directed towards expanding distribution, enhancing brand recognition, innovating products, and upgrading manufacturing capabilities.

Their RIO Bubbly Fruit Drink (BFD) stands out with its exotic fruit flavours, featuring 15% juice content, enriched with honey and Vitamin C, and boasting 25% less sugar. Meanwhile, the RIO BOOM Energy Drink is tailored to appeal to young, ambitious consumers, providing a bold taste along with energizing benefits.

The Pune-based startup has established a presence in over 35,000 retail outlets across more than 25 cities in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The aim is to expand to 100,000 retail outlets within the next three years, while also enhancing its omnichannel strategy through Quick Commerce platforms and modern retail networks.

Rio Innobev asserts that it has remained EBITDA positive since its inception, increasing its sales from 750,000 units in the first year to over 15 million cans and bottles sold annually. The brand is committed to focusing on innovation, rapid market entry, and top-quality products. Its strategy also includes expanding its product line to encompass indulgent, health-focused, and functional beverages to meet the changing preferences of consumers.
Strategic Retail Partnerships
Rio Innobev products can be found in major retail chains such as Dmart, Reliance Retail, 7-Eleven, Wellness Forever, and Patel Retail. Additionally, the company is available on quick commerce platforms like Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Blinkit. Over the next three years, Rio Innobev intends to triple its general trade presence and further strengthen its reach within India’s leading metropolitan and emerging mini-metro areas.
Manufacturing and Market Competition
To facilitate quicker market entry and enhance product quality, Rio Innobev is also planning to scale up its manufacturing capabilities. This will enable the company to compete more aggressively in both national and regional markets, ensuring strong unit economics while delivering superior beverage options to its consumers.
