Bharat Intelligence Raises Funds to Transform Agritech

Bharat Intelligence Funding Overview

Agritech firm Bharat Intelligence has successfully obtained Rs 7 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Sahyadri Farms. This financial support will be directed towards expanding its team, enhancing product features, and scaling operations in the horticultural regions of Western Maharashtra—integrating technology into the value chains of farmers producing grapes, bananas, tomatoes, and pomegranates.

Background of Bharat Intelligence

Co-founded in 2024 by Azhaan Merchant and Gourav Sanghai, Bharat Intelligence aims to tackle the challenges posed by the farm labour shortage. The company leverages advanced artificial intelligence to streamline rural labour markets, enabling farmers to access skilled workers promptly while offering employees consistent and dignified job opportunities. Through an intuitive platform, it anticipates labour requirements and connects farmers with available crews using straightforward, localised interfaces.

Technology Integration in Rural Areas

Bharat Intelligence weaves technology into rural operations, capturing trust signals, seasonal cycles, and community networks that are often overlooked by traditional datasets. This approach guarantees that AI aligns with the realities of India’s agricultural landscape.

Quote from Co-Founder

Azhaan Merchant, Co-Founder and CEO, remarked that India’s economy is agrarian and fundamentally physical in nature. He emphasised that to create AI tailored for India, it must be intricately linked to rural life, responsive to the subtleties of personal interactions in village markets, the seasonal movements of labourers, and the trust networks that facilitate transactions.

Vision for the Future

Bharat Intelligence is committed to resolving pressing issues while also laying the foundation for substantial long-term change. The company sees the incorporation of contextual data as a crucial element for the success of AI in India, ensuring that artificial intelligence remains relevant and effective for its vast population.
