BharatPe Updates: Resignation of Rohan Khara

BharatPe’s Group Chief Product Officer (CPO), Rohan Khara, has parted ways with the fintech unicorn, as reported by knowledgeable sources. Reports suggest that Khara will continue in his role until August this year to facilitate an effective transition.

Role and Responsibilities of Rohan Khara

In his capacity as CPO, Khara was instrumental in steering the firm’s product initiatives and also managed marketing efforts while acting as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). During a period without a full-time technology leader, he had also taken on the responsibilities of Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Focus on Artificial Intelligence

Recently, Khara had been at the helm of BharatPe’s artificial intelligence (AI) strategies, overseeing a range of AI-centric projects within the company, according to sources. He joined BharatPe in February 2024 from the digital lending platform FairMoney, where he held the position of Managing Director for India. His experience also includes significant leadership roles at Gojek and MobiKwik.

Strategic Contributions and Future Plans

Khara collaborated closely with BharatPe’s executive team on numerous strategic business and technological undertakings, playing a pivotal role in executing operations across various departments. After a short break, he may consider exploring entrepreneurial ventures, although his specific plans remain undecided.

Departure Amid Leadership Changes

His exit occurs alongside a wider leadership transformation at BharatPe. Co-founder Shashvat Nakrani resigned as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in April 2026. Following his departure, all original founders have distanced themselves from active operational positions. Nakrani has indicated he is contemplating a return to entrepreneurship while still engaging with BharatPe at a strategic level.

Historical Departures and Future Aspirations

Previously, co-founder Bhavik Koladiya left the firm in 2022. Additionally, BharatPe resolved longstanding disputes with former co-founder Ashneer Grover through a comprehensive settlement in September 2024. To bolster its leadership team ahead of an expected public market entry, BharatPe appointed Himanshu Verma as the Head of its POS division in March 2026. The fintech company aims for a potential IPO by the close of FY27 or mid-FY28.

BharatPe’s Market Position

Supported by Coatue Management and various investors, BharatPe caters to over 10 million merchants through its payment and financial services platform. The firm announced a profit of Rs 6 crore from an operating revenue of Rs 1,800 crore in FY25.
