Coding Ninjas has shown remarkable performance with a 26.4% year-on-year increase in its operating revenue during FY25, following a period of flat revenue growth in FY24. The edtech platform, supported by Info Edge, has notably reduced its losses by 41% in the latest fiscal year.

The company’s revenue from operations rose to Rs 67 crore in FY25, up from Rs 53 crore the previous year, as detailed in the annual filing from the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Established in 2016 by Ankush Singla, Kannu Mittal, and Dhawal Parate, Coding Ninjas focuses on delivering online education and coaching services specifically tailored for engineering students. This includes training in various programming languages like C++, Java, and Python, along with skills such as machine learning, web development, and data science.

Revenue Sources and Expansion

In the last fiscal year, income derived from online coaching services represented the sole revenue stream for Coding Ninjas. According to their financial documentation, the company enhanced its course offerings through partnerships with renowned institutions and universities.

Cost Management and Operational Efficiency

On the expense front, Coding Ninjas successfully reduced its costs by 9% during the same period. Employee benefits saw a decrease of 18.5%, amounting to Rs 44 crore, while marketing and promotional expenses remained stable at Rs 28 crore.

The company achieved a 26% increase in revenue while simultaneously lowering its losses by 41.2% to Rs 30 crore in FY25, a reduction from Rs 51 crore in FY24. Nevertheless, the cumulative losses since inception reached Rs 151.5 crore in FY25.

Financial Insights

An analysis from Startup Superb revealed that Coding Ninjas possessed total current assets of Rs 17 crore, which included cash and bank balances of Rs 7.5 crore. However, a concerning aspect is that total current liabilities surpassed current assets by Rs 24.7 crore.

Investment and Competitive Landscape

As stated by various sources from the startup data intelligence platform, Info Edge is the sole external investor in Coding Ninjas, having invested around Rs 178 crore (approximately $22 million) over three funding rounds. In October 2022, Info Edge increased its holding from 26% to 51% in Coding Ninjas with an infusion of Rs 135.4 crore ($17 million).

Coding Ninjas competes with several platforms such as Scaler, Masai School, and Newton School, in addition to Coding Blocks, GUVI, Udemy, and Coursera, all of which provide beginner courses, job-ready bootcamps, and advanced educational programs.
