Duro Opportunities Fund: A New Venture in India

Duro Opportunities Fund is the first onshore vehicle launched by Duro Capital, a firm focused on investments in India. This fund has achieved its first close with commitments exceeding Rs 200 crore. Registered as a Category III Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) by SEBI, it was initiated in July and aims to raise a total of Rs 1,000 crore, primarily sourced from select family offices in India.

Investment Strategy

The Duro Opportunities Fund is set to concentrate on publicly listed Indian companies, spanning various market capitalisations and sectors. The objective is to create a focused portfolio comprising 20 to 25 businesses. With a robust 15-year history of managing foreign institutional investment in Indian equities, Duro Capital utilises both offshore long-short and long-only strategies that have consistently outperformed market benchmarks.

Founder’s Vision

Nishchay Goel, the founder and Chief Investment Officer, leads Duro Capital. The firm employs a research-driven methodology to invest in listed equities, targeting businesses that possess structural advantages. The goal is to achieve long-term capital growth through well-structured, high-conviction strategies.

Performance-Based Fee Structure

The new fund features a fee arrangement linked to its performance, ensuring that investors’ interests are closely aligned with the firm’s objectives. Additionally, Duro Capital commits a substantial portion of its capital alongside that of its clients, demonstrating a shared interest in the success of the fund.

A Milestone in Domestic Investments

This Alternative Investment Fund signifies Duro’s inaugural domestic venture, complementing its array of global funds. The launch reflects the firm’s strong faith in the Indian capital markets and its ambition to strengthen collaborations with prominent family offices.
