Supporting India’s MSMEs with Google.org Funding

Supporting India’s MSMEs with Google.org Funding

Supporting India’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Google.org has allocated $15 million in funding to The/Nudge. This funding aims to enhance the digital adoption and growth of over 90 million small businesses across India, employing more than 345 million individuals. Despite this vast workforce, many of these enterprises encounter hurdles in obtaining credit, maintaining compliance, and accessing digital markets.

Enhancing Access to Credit and Digital Markets

The funding provided by Google.org will enable the creation of scalable artificial intelligence (AI) solutions designed to enhance MSMEs’ access to formal credit, market exploration, and compliance tools. This proactive initiative is part of Google.org’s strategy to align with India’s national AI roadmap.

Open Call for Innovative Proposals

The programme will include an open call for innovative proposals aimed at identifying effective solutions for MSMEs. It will also introduce a multilingual, voice-driven platform that seeks to equip local talent in Tier 3 and Tier 4 towns with job-ready skills while facilitating direct connections to small businesses.

Google.org’s Commitment to Opportunities

Google.org is dedicated to providing funding, programmes, and technical expertise to organisations striving to broaden access to various opportunities. The core focus areas involve enhancing knowledge, skills, and learning, fostering scientific advancement, and building robust communities. By leveraging Google’s technology, research, and resources, the organisation aims to support initiatives that address pressing social and economic issues.
