FanCode Secures Exclusive Broadcasting Rights for Men’s Tennis in Indian Subcontinent
FanCode, a prominent sports streaming platform owned by the parent company Dream Sports, has achieved exclusive media rights to broadcast men’s tennis throughout the Indian subcontinent. This multi-year collaboration with ATP Media enables FanCode to stream ATP Tour matches across various nations including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives.
Exclusive Access to ATP Tournaments
As part of this agreement, FanCode will provide coverage for over 50 ATP tournaments each year. This includes highly anticipated events like the ATP Masters 1000, ATP 500, and ATP 250 tournaments, alongside the season-concluding Nitto ATP Finals. The platform also aims to introduce India-centric programmes and regional storytelling formats to enhance the sport’s reach and popularity.
Expanding Sports Rights Portfolio
This deal significantly bolsters FanCode’s expanding sports rights portfolio, which already encompasses various prestigious entities such as Formula 1, LaLiga football, MotoGP, PGA Tour golf, and multiple domestic cricket properties. This move signifies FanCode’s commitment to diversifying its sports offerings and providing rich content for its audience.
Impact of Regulatory Changes on Dream Sports
This development arises during a critical phase for the parent company Dream Sports, which is undergoing a strategic overhaul. Earlier in the year, Dream11 faced challenges due to the implementation of India’s real-money gaming (RMG) ban. This regulatory change compelled numerous gaming platforms to cease their paid contest formats, leading to a substantial impact on Dream Sports’ core revenue streams.
Transitioning to a Global Sports Entertainment Platform
In light of these challenges, Dream Sports is reassessing its long-term business strategy. The firm has initiated a transition from solely fantasy gaming to becoming a comprehensive global sports entertainment platform. Concurrently, Dream Sports has been streamlining its operations by scaling back on non-core areas. Recently, FanCode announced the closure of its sports merchandise venture, FanCode Shop, due to constraints related to scale and profitability.
