Farm Watt Innovations Secures Funding for Climate-Focused Initiatives
Farm Watt Innovations, dedicated to tackling climate change, has successfully raised Rs 32.5 crore (approximately $3.36 million) in a funding round co-led by IAN Alpha Fund and Rainmatter. This newly acquired capital is earmarked for reinforcing its biomass supply chain, expanding its biomass collection network, establishing additional aggregation hubs, purchasing new machinery, and increasing its workforce.
About Farm Watt Innovations
Founded in 2023 by Kumar Neelendu, Farm Watt Innovations is committed to aggregating and supplying agricultural biomass to compressed biogas (CBG) plants and various bioenergy facilities. The objective of the startup is to mitigate the issue of crop residue burning by transforming agricultural waste into valuable feedstock for renewable energy projects.
Expansion Plans
The company is currently active with 15 biomass aggregation hubs situated across six states and has ambitious plans to further extend its footprint. Future operations are intended for Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar. This extensive expansion aims to significantly enhance its role in the bioenergy sector of India.
Future Ventures
Farm Watt Innovations has indicated plans to create its own portfolio encompassing CBG, bio-pellet, and biochar plants as part of its efforts to solidify its presence in the Indian bioenergy ecosystem.
