Flipkart Minutes Achieves Major Expansion Milestone in Quick Commerce

Flipkart Minutes Reaches 1,000 Micro Fulfilment Centres in Quick Commerce

Flipkart Minutes, the rapid commerce division of Flipkart, has successfully surpassed 1,000 micro fulfilment centres across over 130 cities and 8,000 pincodes, achieving this feat in under two years since its inception in August 2024. The organisation reported that order volumes on its platform have increased fivefold over the past year.

This remarkable growth was primarily driven by an expansion into Tier II and Tier III markets, which saw a staggering 42 times increase in scale compared to the previous year. Additionally, Flipkart Minutes incorporated more than 90 cities into its network during this period, effectively penetrating smaller markets.

Research indicates that Generation Z has become the fastest-growing segment of customers for Flipkart Minutes, now representing over 40% of its customer demographic. Consumers are diversifying their purchases beyond groceries to include electronics, beauty, wellness, and lifestyle products.

According to Flipkart, the average order value for fruits and vegetables has risen by 30%, while repeat purchases have increased by more than 20%. The platform collaborates with nearly 500 direct-to-consumer brands and has connected over 3,000 farmers through its Samarth Krishi initiative.

Moreover, Flipkart Minutes has revealed that it has doubled its electric vehicle fleet in the past year, with electric vehicles now making up over 10% of total deliveries.

This achievement comes at a time of fierce competition in the quick commerce industry. Company reports show that Blinkit operates 2,243 dark stores, while Zepto and Swiggy Instamart have 1,139 and 1,143 dark stores, respectively. Additionally, Amazon has recently announced plans to expand Amazon Now to 100 cities through a network comprising more than 1,000 micro fulfilment centres alongside over 100 Urban Fulfilment Centers throughout India.
