The announcement of his death was made by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, where he was rushed to the emergency department at approximately 8.30 PM in a critical state.

Manmohan Singh served as Prime Minister for two terms from 2004 to 2014 under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. During recent months, he had faced significant health challenges.
