Indian Startups Funding Overview: $662 Million Raised in July
Indian startups raised $662 million in July, marking a significant drop from the impressive $2 billion achieved in June, primarily driven by Meta’s investment in CRED. The month of July included just one funding round exceeding $100 million, as Emergent secured new capital, becoming the seventh unicorn of 2026. The next largest deal during this period reached merely $40 million, indicating the restricted access to substantial funding amounts this month. Nonetheless, July’s total surpassed the $630 million raised in May. Notably, early-stage startups contributed to 38% of the overall capital raised. While IPO activities remained robust, Zepto chose to delay its public listing amid ongoing valuation discussions with investors. The month also saw four startups shutting down, although there were no significant reports of layoffs, which is unusual in the current environment.

Trends
Artificial Intelligence stood out as the predominant investment theme: AI captured the most investor interest in July, with 15 deals worth $201.62 million. Emergent’s $130 million funding round and its entry into the unicorn club further reinforced the industry’s momentum.
