Spense Secures $1.85 Million to Revolutionise Banking Infrastructure
Spense, a startup based in Bengaluru that focuses on programmable banking and card infrastructure, has successfully raised $1.85 million in a pre-seed funding round led by GrowthCap Ventures.
Notable participants in this funding round include Kunal Shah, the founder of CRED, Sayandeb Banerjee, co-founder of The Math Company, Suresh Rayasam, Head of Applied AI for GTM, and Ravi Sudhakar, Director of AI Global Business Strategy at Microsoft, among others.
As indicated by Spense, the capital will be utilised to onboard new banks, enhance fintech collaborations, and expand the product and technology stack to facilitate a wider range of use cases beyond just credit cards.
Founders and Vision
Spense was established by Pawan Kumar, the former head of Applied Science at Uber India, alongside Srinivas Krishnamurthy, a former Technical Lead at BNP Paribas. The company provides infrastructure for secured credit cards, prepaid cards, and forex programmes.
Supporting Financial Institutions
The platform aims to aid financial institutions by offering regulatory oversight and integration capabilities for new credit products. Currently, Spense is being utilised by regulated entities to launch and manage secured credit programmes.
The infrastructure developed by Spense allows for quicker go-to-market timelines and enhanced auditability while seamlessly integrating with existing legacy systems.
