Harajuku Tokyo Café, a prominent player in the Japanese food sector with its outlets Harajuku Tokyo Café and Harajuku Bakehouse, has successfully secured $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Zero W. Existing investors such as the Indian Angel Network (IAN) and Samved VC also took part with additional investments. New backers include Blume Founders Fund, Brijesh Parekh Family Office, Rahul Jain, co-founder of Epigamia, among others.
Previous Funding Rounds and Use of Proceeds
The company had previously raised $2 million (Rs 19 crore) during a seed funding round co-led by IAN and Samved VC in August 2025, with contributions from LetsVenture and venture debt fund Capitar Ventures. The newly acquired funds will be directed towards the next phase of growth. Harajuku Tokyo Café aims to generate Rs 100 crore in revenue during the current financial year, as stated in their press release.
Company Overview
Founded in 2021 by Gaurav Kanwar, Harajuku operates two distinct food and beverage concepts in Delhi NCR and Mumbai. The Harajuku Tokyo Café features a full-service dining experience with a conveyor-belt sushi system and Tokyo-themed designs. On the other hand, Harajuku Bakehouse provides a quick-service option, serving an array of Japanese breads, desserts, and savoury snacks. The menu and operations have been meticulously crafted alongside chefs Asami Indo and Higuchi Nariaki to aid expansion and bring modern Japanese cuisine to Indian diners.
Future Expansion Plans
In the upcoming two quarters, Harajuku intends to launch 10 new outlets in various neighbourhoods within Delhi NCR and Mumbai. Additionally, they plan to expand into Bengaluru and Chandigarh. The company aims to set up central kitchens in Mumbai and Bengaluru by December 2026. These kitchens will supply Harajuku Bakehouse outlets and will support the production of packaged food for the western and southern regions of India.
Revenue Growth and Performance Metrics
Since their seed funding round in August 2025, Harajuku has doubled both its outlet count and revenue. Mumbai, where the brand commenced operations in July 2025, now accounts for 25% of its total revenue. The company processes over 1,000 orders daily through dine-in and delivery services.
Success of Harajuku Bakehouse
Harajuku Bakehouse contributes more than 30% to the overall revenue. In Delhi NCR, its offerings achieve sales of over 1,000 loaves of bread per week on the quick commerce platform Blinkit. Plans are underway to increase the presence of the Bakehouse in other metropolitan areas.
