House of Student, a leading global student living technology firm, has successfully raised $2 million in a seed funding round through both equity and debt. This funding round was co-led by Saltwater Sutra and Nirmitsu Inspirational Ventures, with contributions from several investors including Gautam Verlekar, Glen Fernandes, Richard McCallum, and Ali Moosa, along with existing contributor Unilodgers.

Utilization of Funds

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards enhancing product innovation, expanding the housing supply, boosting artificial intelligence capabilities, and facilitating global growth, as detailed in a recent press release from the company.

About House of Student

Founded in February of the previous year by Vaibhav Verma, House of Student provides a technology platform dedicated to student accommodation in various global education hubs. Their services include online booking and the management of housing networks, with intentions to broaden their offerings to include AI-driven student support services.

Background of the Founder

Before establishing House of Student, Verma created Unilodgers, which is recognized as the world’s inaugural student housing marketplace. Reports indicate that Unilodgers achieved a valuation of $109 million during its initial institutional funding round.

Global Reach

The Gurugram and US-based startup boasts a portfolio of over 2.5 million verified student rooms across more than 25 countries, which includes the UK, US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UAE, Singapore, and 18 countries in Europe. House of Student finds itself competing with other prominent players in the market such as Uhomes, Amber, Student.com, and Uniplaces.
