Hunger Inc is making significant strides as it raises Rs 215 crore, approximately $25 million, in a recent funding initiative led by Lighthouse and DSG Consumer Partners. This funding round also allowed some early investors, such as CP Gurnani and several angel investors, to exit through secondary transactions. Previously, the Mumbai-based firm secured $1.69 million during a seed funding round, with ongoing support from the Godrej family office.

Founded in 2014 by Sameer Seth, Floyd Cardoz, and Yash Bhanage, Hunger Inc operates various restaurants, a food publication, and fosters a collaborative workplace environment. The retail brand, Bombay Sweet Shop, which offers Indian sweets, chocolates, and other confectioneries, now accounts for more than half of the company’s total revenue.
Financial Performance
In fiscal 2025, Hunger Inc reported a revenue of Rs 115 crore, maintaining a 9% EBITDA margin, with aspirations to reach a topline of Rs 150 crore in FY26. Currently, Bombay Sweet Shop averages Rs 8-9 crore in monthly revenue.
Expansion Plans
At present, Hunger Inc operates exclusively in Mumbai but intends to expand its reach to Delhi, where it plans to establish a flagship Bombay Sweet Shop within the next 12-18 months. The brand’s current footprint includes five retail outlets and 18 dark stores, facilitating direct deliveries via its own website as well as through delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato.
Business-to-Business Growth
Hunger Inc is also focusing on the growth of its business-to-business (B2B) and institutional sales segments. This includes partnerships with renowned establishments like the Starbucks café chain and Oberoi Hotels. Recently, Bombay Sweet Shop has made strides by partnering with IndiGo for in-flight offerings in international business class.
