BAAS Technologies: A New Era in Space-Tech Innovation

BAAS Technologies: Pioneering Space-Tech Solutions

Space-tech startup BAAS Technologies is making significant strides by securing Rs 5 crore in a pre-seed funding round. This funding, spearheaded by Inflection Point Ventures, also saw contributions from SINE IIT Bombay and a collective of private angel investors. The capital raised will be directed toward research and development of liquid and solid propulsion systems, establishing a static test facility, developing manufacturing infrastructure, acquiring necessary equipment and raw materials, and enhancing the engineering and operations team, as stated in a recent press release.

Founders and Vision of BAAS Technologies

Co-founded in 2024 by Tanmay Kanmahale, Prashant Patil, Atharva Pingale, Swayam Sonar, and Shriniwas Hase, BAAS Technologies focuses on creating reusable sub-orbital and orbital launch vehicles. The company excels in indigenous rocket propulsion systems, launch vehicle development, and providing affordable launch solutions for clients across commercial, research, and governmental sectors.

Innovative Rocket Propulsion Systems

The Pune-based startup is dedicated to designing and developing its own solid and liquid rocket propulsion systems. One notable project is its upcoming 100 kN Rocket Propulsion Testing Facility, which is designed to facilitate static fire testing, engine validation, and pave the way for commercial ventures as BAAS progresses into its next growth phase.

Market Growth Potential

Recent market research indicates that India’s domestic satellite launch services market is projected to expand from $399 million in 2025 to a remarkable $1.58 billion by 2033, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.2%. BAAS Technologies reports that it has already undertaken successful paid pilot programs within India and is now eyeing commercial expansion into regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
