Karta AI: Innovative Voice AI for BFSI Sector Raises $3 Million

Karta AI: Innovative Voice AI Platform for BFSI Sector

Karta AI, a cutting-edge voice AI platform tailored for inbound customer operations in banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI), has successfully secured $3 million in a seed funding round. The round was spearheaded by PeerCapital and Cedar Hill Capital, with participation from Wyser VC, CDM Capital, and Seedstars. The investment will be directed towards enhancing the platform’s automation and multilingual capabilities, scaling deployments with financial institutions, and expanding its engineering and marketing teams, as stated in a press release by Karta AI.

Overview of Karta AI’s Foundation and Functionality

Karta AI was established in 2024 by Vijaypal Singh and Abhishek Kushwaha. The platform is designed to create voice AI agents that manage inbound customer calls for banks, lenders, fintech companies, and insurers. It seamlessly integrates with enterprise systems to effectively tackle customer inquiries and execute workflows independently, engaging human intervention only when necessary for escalation.

Distinctive Features of Karta AI

Unlike traditional voice bots that usually focus on individual inquiries, Karta AI’s platform is engineered to handle a variety of customer intents within one conversation. Its predictive context engine leverages previous interactions, processed by both human agents and AI, to enhance query resolution and decision-making processes.

Current Operations and Future Directions

The Bengaluru-based startup is currently operational with financial institutions, managing around 2 million customer conversations each month across more than 25 languages. Their inbound servicing agent effectively resolves about 70% of borrower inquiries from start to finish, a significant increase from 0%. This includes handling requests related to disbursal status, account statements, foreclosure statements, and the release of property documents, according to the company’s claims.

Long-Term Vision

In the long run, Karta AI aims to create reusable capabilities specific to the industry and broaden its reach into international markets. The voice AI sector—specifically in India—has been attracting increased investment as startups work to automate customer interactions across banking, lending, fintech, and insurance.

Market Trends and Competitors

Recent funding rounds in this sector include Desible.ai’s Rs 32 crore seed plus round led by Prime Venture Partners, Navana.ai’s Rs 40 crore Series A round overseen by Ronnie Screwvala, and Rezolv’s $12.5 million Series A round led by Norwest. Other notable companies in the space include Arrowhead, which is focused on voice AI for financial services, and Gnani.ai, which is expanding its multi-language and agentic AI capabilities. While certain platforms specialise in workflows like collections, underwriting, and customer support, others are crafting voice AI infrastructure for broader enterprise applications.
