Deep-tech impact fund Lavni Ventures has initiated a Rs 200 crore investment programme to champion India’s leading science-oriented startups, aiming for global reach in climate, healthcare, energy, and educational innovations.

With the support of government initiatives like the National Deep Tech Startup Policy and the Deep Tech Innovation Platform, the Lavni Fund II is positioned to leverage this momentum by investing in tech-driven solutions that effectively address some of the most challenging issues globally.

Lavni Ventures’ Portfolio Highlights

Notable companies within Lavni’s portfolio, including Padcare Labs, Monitra Healthcare, and MedPrime Technologies, showcase the strength of India’s deep-tech landscape. By FY25, the startups from Fund I are projected to collectively contribute over 3.5 million student learning hours and more than 10,000 healthcare interventions in underserved areas, alongside saving 303 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent.

Validation of the Deep-Tech Model

Vasu Guruswamy, co-founder and General Partner at Lavni Ventures, stated that the successful initiation of Fund II, coupled with robust participation from Fund I Limited Partners, confirms their fundamental belief: Indian deep-tech entrepreneurs are exceptionally equipped to create significant impact along with attractive financial returns.

Investment Structure of Fund II

Lavni Ventures revealed that Fund II will allocate between Rs 2 crore to Rs 8 crore per opportunity during the Seed to Series A stages, and further investments ranging from Rs 8 crore to Rs 15 crore for follow-ups. The fund evaluates over 800 deep-tech opportunities every year, employing a rigorous selection process that emphasises sustainable business strategies, measurable impact, and exit possibilities.
