Matiks Secures $3.1 Million for Mobile Math Gaming

The maths-focussed mobile gaming platform Matiks, based in Bengaluru, has successfully obtained $3.1 million (approximately Rs 27 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round. This round was led by Tanglin Ventures, with contributions from Info Edge Ventures and a range of angel investors, including boAt co-founder Aman Gupta, Unacademy co-founders Gaurav Munjal and Roman Saini, as well as Anil Goteti.

Matiks has announced that these newly acquired funds will be utilised to enhance its team, boost marketing efforts, improve product offerings, and expand into new geographical markets, as stated in a press release.

Co-founded in September 2024 by Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar, and Sushant Timmapur, Matiks empowers users to test and improve their mathematical abilities through engaging mobile games. The platform enables users to compete with each other, making the learning process interactive.

Growth of India’s Gaming Industry

According to market research, the gaming industry in India holds a valuation of around $3.8 billion, projected to grow to $9.2 billion by FY29. This impressive growth underscores the potential of platforms like Matiks, which aim to captivate users of all ages through mathematical challenges.

Features and Community Engagement

Matiks offers numerous features designed to make math practice enjoyable and interactive, such as live 1v1 battles, multiplayer math duels, daily challenges, global leaderboards, and tailored progress tracking. The platform caters to various game categories, emphasising speed, memory, and puzzles, while also promoting higher engagement through weekly contests.

Additionally, Matiks fosters a social environment by allowing users to connect with friends and engage in a dedicated Discord community. Recently, the platform launched a paid ‘Creators Programme,’ which enables users to build their own communities within the app. Currently, Matiks claims to have around 100,000 users and has surpassed 50,000 downloads on the Google Play Store.
