NABVENTURES Focuses on Agriculture and Rural Development with New Fund

NABVENTURES, which operates as the venture capital branch of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), has successfully secured commitments totalling Rs 450 crore in the initial closing of its second fund. This fund is aiming for a complete corpus of Rs 1,500 crore, which includes a green-shoe option, with NABARD acting as the primary investor.

NABVENTURES Fund II: Investment Focus

The NABVENTURES Fund II is dedicated to making investments in early and growth-stage enterprises that are engaged in agriculture, food production, agribusiness, and rural market initiatives. Chief areas of interest include agritech, rural financial technology, climate-smart innovations, as well as supply chain and logistics, alongside businesses that are resolving challenges within the agricultural value chain.

Support for Technology-Driven Solutions

The fund is committed to supporting companies that leverage technology and scalable business models aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, fortifying supply chains, and fostering rural enterprises. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on sustainability, climate resilience, financial inclusion, and creating diverse livelihoods.

Leveraging NABARD’s Expertise

In addition to financial backing, NABVENTURES intends to utilise NABARD’s vast presence across the country and its specialist knowledge to assist portfolio companies in expanding their operations and tapping into rural markets.

This new fund follows the previous initiatives by NABVENTURES, which have together invested in a total of 23 companies. Through Fund II, the firm aims to endorse businesses that merge financial growth with innovative solutions for India’s agricultural and rural sectors.
