OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, is preparing to establish its inaugural office in New Delhi later this year. This strategic move is designed to strengthen the company’s presence in its second-largest market based on user numbers. Backed by Microsoft, the company has also commenced the recruitment of local talent, recognising India as a vital market for its artificial intelligence initiatives.
Recently, OpenAI introduced its most affordable monthly subscription plan, priced at INR 4.60, specifically for the Indian market. A report from Reuters includes insights from OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, who remarked that the launch of their first office and the formation of a local team is a crucial initial step toward fulfilling their commitment to making advanced AI more accessible throughout India.
