Orbitt Space Secures Million in Pre-Seed Funding Led by pi Ventures

Orbitt Space: Ahmedabad’s Innovative Spacetech Startup

Orbitt Space, an innovative spacetech startup based in Ahmedabad, has successfully secured $1 million in a pre-seed funding round. This round was led by pi Ventures, with additional participation from IIMA Ventures. The funding will be utilised to enhance product design, grow Orbitt’s engineering team, and initiate prototype testing for its unique propulsion and avionics systems.

About Orbitt Space

Established in early 2025 by former ISRO specialists Christopher Parmar and Anupam Kumar, Orbitt Space is focusing on the development of an air-breathing electric propulsion system and a high-agility satellite bus, specifically engineered for Ultra Low Earth Orbit (ULEO) missions.

Understanding Ultra Low Earth Orbit (ULEO)

ULEO, which refers to orbits situated below 250 km, presents numerous advantages such as improved imaging quality, decreased latency, and lower radiation exposure. However, it remains underutilised because of significant atmospheric drag. Orbitt’s innovative approach leverages residual atmospheric gases as propellant, facilitating 5 to 7 years of sustainable satellite operations without the need for onboard fuel.

Current Focus and Future Plans

The startup is presently concentrating on in-lab development and the qualification of its propulsion system. Plans for in-orbit validation and subsequent commercial rollout are set for future phases. Additionally, the company’s 200kg-class satellite bus is purpose-built for durability, agility, and cost-efficiency, specifically tailored for extreme low-orbit environments.
