PeakAmp Elevates EV Battery Management with New Funding
PeakAmp, a company dedicated to battery circularity, has successfully acquired Rs 12 crore (approximately $1.37 million) during a seed funding initiative led by Caret Capital. This funding round also saw participation from IIM Ahmedabad Ventures, Basant Sharma and Group, along with a range of other investors.
About PeakAmp and Its Mission
Establishing its foundation in 2024, PeakAmp was co-founded by Vijay Gond and Aditya Sudhanshu. The startup is focused on creating a comprehensive solution for end-of-life (EOL) electric vehicle (EV) battery management. Its goal is to convert out-of-service batteries into valuable assets through safe collection, second-life repurposing, and high-purity material recovery, fundamentally contributing to India’s clean energy transition and fostering a circular economy.
Technological Innovations in Battery Management
As per company insights, PeakAmp’s technology-driven approach enables efficient collection, segregation, and recycling of lithium-ion batteries. This includes repurposing batteries for second-life applications and extracting high-purity materials. PeakAmp’s ambition is to create a circular economy for batteries by capitalising on strategic partnerships and innovative technologies.
Vision for a Sustainable Future
Vijay Gond, Co-founder of PeakAmp, shared the company’s vision by stating that their ambition extends beyond handling battery waste. They aim to establish global benchmarks for sustainable resource recovery, making circularity a vital component of India’s clean energy landscape, thereby steering the country towards true energy independence and a leadership role in global circular innovation.
Market Potential and Technological Capabilities
Market analysis suggests that India’s electric vehicle market is poised to grow from $35 billion in 2024 to an impressive $111 billion by 2029, with expectations of over 80 million EVs being operational on the roads. PeakAmp boasts that its state-of-the-art materials recovery technology achieves over 99% efficiency and purity for essential metals like lithium, nickel, and copper. This is bolstered by an expanding reverse logistics network designed for the secure transportation and tracking of end-of-life batteries.
Collaborations and Industry Impact
The startup has reported successful pilot projects in collaboration with notable industry players. It is actively forming partnerships throughout the battery lifecycle, encompassing aspects from collection and logistics to disassembly and material recovery, thereby enhancing its impact on the industry.
