Popo Global Secures Rs 532 Crore for Expansion

Bengaluru-based restaurant entity Popo Global, which manages The Pizza Bakery, Paris Panini, and Smash Guys, successfully secured Rs 532 crore ($56 million) from investment company Artal Asia. Popo Global intends to use this new funding to broaden its restaurant presence across India and enhance its array of food and beverage brands.

Direct Operation Model

In contrast to a franchise-based approach, Popo Global directly operates its eateries, enabling the company to maintain oversight of operations in all its outlets. This strategy supports consistent quality and customer experience across the brand.

Brand Development and Growth

Initiated by brothers Abhijit Gupta and Nikhil Gupta, Popo Global commenced its journey with The Pizza Bakery in Bengaluru in 2017. Since its inception, the brand has seen substantial growth, with the addition of Paris Panini and Smash Guys to its lineup. The firm’s strategy has concentrated on establishing company-owned locations within the casual dining and quick service restaurant sectors.

Investment Conversations

Although the specifics of the recent transaction were not disclosed, prior reports from Moneycontrol indicated that Popo Global was negotiating with the global private equity firm Invus Group to secure around Rs 500 crore for a minority stake. The potential deal was anticipated to value the company between Rs 1,100 crore and Rs 1,350 crore.

Financial Performance

For the fiscal year 2025, Popo Global reported revenue close to Rs 175 crore and maintained profitability during that period, as stated by Moneycontrol. The new capital investment is expected to facilitate the company’s growth objectives across its diverse restaurant brands.
