PayU India Appoints Pramod Rao as Chief Risk Officer

Digital payments platform PayU India has officially named Pramod Rao as its new chief risk officer. This significant appointment comes as the company is gearing up for its upcoming IPO, which is anticipated to take place in the latter half of 2025.

Before joining PayU, Rao held the position of fraud management head at Axis Bank. His extensive experience includes senior roles at various prestigious institutions such as Vodafone Idea, Citibank, IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank, and HSBC.

In his new role, Rao’s responsibilities will encompass managing risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the financial and operational risk framework of the organization.

PayU is recognized for providing advanced payment gateway solutions to online businesses through its cutting-edge technology. The platform boasts a substantial network of over 500,000 merchants distributed across three primary sectors: payments, credit, and PayTech. Additionally, PayU reports an impressive annualized transaction volume (TPV) exceeding $60 billion.

Moreover, PayU has continued to strengthen its leadership team with several key appointments. Pranav Pandya has been appointed as the chief compliance officer, Dimple Mehta will serve as company secretary, and Rahul Bharadwaj has taken on the role of head of operations. The organization also appointed Ashok Patil as the chief risk officer for its credit business.
