TailBlaze Longevity Secures Funding for Pet Nutrition Innovation

TailBlaze Longevity, a pet food startup, has successfully raised $300K during a pre-seed funding round led by the US-based VC firm Comma Capital. The startup’s achievements were also highlighted on Bharat Ke Superfounders. The newly acquired funds will be dedicated to launching HeartPour, developing a team in Ahmedabad, and enhancing its presence among pet parents throughout India.

Prior to the launch, the startup intends to provide the first 500 dogs a complimentary serving of HeartPour, as stated in a press release by TailBlaze Longevity.

About TailBlaze Longevity

Established in August of the previous year by Manaal Maniyar and Palak Devpura, TailBlaze Longevity is centred around canine health and nutrition. The goal of the startup is to increase the lifespan of dogs by 3 to 5 years, using high-protein and lower-carbohydrate nutritional formulations.

Product Development and Features

According to the team, HeartPour is a wet dog food line that has been developed over four years of research and development. This innovative product merges high-protein ingredients with superfoods, and is enriched with an Ayurvedic PanchTatva blend that includes curcumin, black pepper, parsley, amla, and tulsi.

The startup has also introduced FreshTail, a unique technology designed for the production of shelf-stable fresh meals. Their extensive portfolio comprises over 200 items, which include organic dog food, natural treats such as coconut and hemp or fish and strawberry, grooming essentials, and various accessories.

Commerce Strategy

TailBlaze Longevity operates on a WhatsApp-first commerce model and also sells its products via quick commerce platforms and online retailers, including Blinkit and BBNow.

Industry Overview

Within the pet nutrition sector, Right4Paws is working on science-based, species-specific whole-food nutrition that focuses on promoting pet health and longevity. Last December, this startup secured Rs 14 crore in Series A funding aimed at enhancing manufacturing, R&D, specialised talent, and functional products.

In February, Benny’s Bowl, another startup focused on nutrition, acquired $1.4 million to develop functional pet foods targeting areas such as gut health, allergies, renal health, skin and coat care, and weight management.

Additionally, Zoomies successfully raised Rs 5 crore in pre-seed funding in March this year to grow its clean-label, human-grade pet food offerings. Other broader pet care platforms like Supertails have raised $30 million in Series C funding and are now expanding into technology, personalised care, and healthcare services.
