Tattvam AI, a pioneering deeptech startup, is transforming semiconductor chip design through the automation of this complex process. With a recent raise of $1.7 million in pre-seed funding, led by Seedcamp, and with contributions from EWOR, Entropy Industrial Ventures, Concept Ventures, and semiconductor angel Stan Boland, Tattvam AI is set to expand its vision.

The startup intends to utilise the new funds to enhance its engineering team, speed up research and development, launch its inaugural product, and forge collaborations with leading chip design groups, as stated in a press release.

Innovative Approach to Chip Design

Established last year by Bragadeesh Suresh Babu and Lannan Jiang, Tattvam AI is on a mission to revolutionise semiconductor development. The goal is to enable faster chip design, tailored specifically for distinct applications, thus enhancing overall system performance. This startup is applying a groundbreaking methodology in chip design by formulating an AI system that comprehends circuit structures in depth and autonomously tackles intricate design challenges, thereby significantly shortening development cycles.

Custom Silicon vs General-Purpose Chips

In contrast to general-purpose chips crafted for diverse tasks, custom silicon pertains to processors that are optimised for particular operations, such as AI training or inference. These specially designed chips can achieve performance enhancements of up to 100 times compared to general-purpose hardware like GPUs for focused applications, frequently utilising less power in the process.

Reasoning Model Development

Tattvam AI claims to be creating a reasoning model that intuitively understands circuits from foundational principles, encompassing constraints, trade-offs, and interdependencies. This method mimics the thought process of a world-class engineer but performs it in a fraction of the time. By automating and fast-tracking the utilisation of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, the startup aims to decrease chip design timelines from several years to mere weeks.

Future Product Launch

In the forthcoming months, Tattvam AI plans to unveil its first product while collaborating with partners to expedite the creation of next-generation chips. By automating significant components of the design process, the company aspires to make custom silicon more attainable, lower development expenses, and facilitate rapid iterations on chip designs.
