Urban Company Fundraising Proposal – Home Services Market

Urban Company Fundraising Proposal

Urban Company, a marketplace for home services, is set to evaluate a fundraising proposal during its board meeting scheduled for October 16, as noted in its regulatory filing. The company is considering various methods to generate funds, which may include a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), preferential allotment, private placement, or other permissible options, pending the required regulatory and shareholder approvals. The specific amount sought has not been revealed in its market filing.

According to a report from Moneycontrol, Urban Company is aiming to obtain approximately Rs 2,000-2,500 crore through a QIP. This planned fundraising is taking place against a backdrop of escalating competition within the instant home services sector, where emerging startups like Snabbit and Pronto are also seeking new capital to further their growth.

In April 2026, Snabbit successfully raised $56 million in a Series D funding round led by Susquehanna Venture Capital, Mirae Asset Venture Investments, and Bertelsmann India Investments. This funding round valued Snabbit at roughly $350 million and increased its total funding to about $112 million.

Similarly, Pronto finalised its Series B round in May 2026, obtaining $45 million, which included a $20 million investment from the investor Lachy Groom. This funding round valued Pronto at $200 million.

Urban Company itself raised $50 million through a fresh issue of shares during its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in September 2025, which also featured an offer for sale amounting to Rs 1,428 crore from existing investors.

In the first quarter of FY27, Urban Company reported a 44% increase in revenue from operations compared to the previous year, amounting to Rs 528 crore. However, the company incurred a net loss of Rs 92 crore, a decline from the profit of Rs 6.9 crore during the same period last year. Its net transaction value grew by 42%, reaching Rs 1,465 crore.

These losses were attributed to ongoing investments in InstaHelp, its quick-service domestic assistance venture. This segment reported an adjusted EBITDA loss of Rs 132 crore for the quarter, in contrast to the growth seen in Urban Company’s other business areas.

The decision on the structure and terms of the proposed fundraising will be made during the board meeting on October 16.
