WaterScience Secures Rs 1.4 Crore Funding to Transform Water Quality
Non-drinking water filtration brand WaterScience has raised Rs 1.4 crore in investment from Velocity, a growth capital platform supported by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures. This new capital will be utilized to enhance growth strategies, boost marketing efforts, and launch additional product lines, as stated in a recent press release.
Founded in 2014 by Sudeep Nadukkandy, Pavithra Rao, and Mohammed Iqbal, WaterScience tackles essential water quality challenges that impact over 95% of household water use beyond just drinking. The company provides over 40 products across various categories, including shower and tap filters, appliance filters, kitchen filters, water softeners, and comprehensive filtration systems to combat hard water, chlorine, and other impurities.
In her remarks regarding the funding, Pavithra Rao, Co-Founder of WaterScience, expressed that this financial backing is a compelling endorsement of their commitment to ensuring water safety and health for every household in India. She noted that with the support of Velocity, the company will accelerate its growth and innovate within new product categories, thus continuing to set high standards for water solutions in the country. WaterScience, having already impacted 2 million households, is enthusiastic about reaching another 1 million within the year.
Currently, WaterScience asserts that its products are available in over 2 million homes across India, with a target to expand to 1 million additional households during FY25-26. The company reports a remarkable 70% year-on-year growth, maintaining a strong presence across major marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, Shopify, and over 1,000 offline retailers.
Supported by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, Velocity has strategically collaborated with more than 4,000 D2C and digital-first brands, providing over Rs 1,100 crore in funding. Beyond just financial assistance, the company offers an extensive array of products such as Shipfast, an AI-driven shipping and logistics solution. Among the notable D2C brands that Velocity has backed are Soulflower, Rynox Gears, NasherMiles, Hammer, Zlade, The Bear House, Off Duty, and Chumbak.
