Funding Success for Zumutor Biologics: Advancing Immuno-Oncology

Funding for Zumutor Biologics amounts to $7.3 million, secured in a Pre-Series B funding round with contributions from existing investors Accel and Bharat Innovation Fund, as well as new collaborators including Premji Invest, Ashish Kacholia, and Raj Dandu Family Office. This new capital aims to facilitate the completion of the ongoing US FDA Phase 1 clinical trial for its leading drug candidate, ZM008, enhance Phase 1B expansion cohorts, and launch global Phase 2 studies, including those in India.

About Zumutor Biologics and ZM008

Founded by Kavitha Iyer Rodrigues, Zumutor Biologics is dedicated to developing immuno-oncology therapies that leverage the body’s natural immune system to combat cancer. ZM008, the company’s leading program, represents a pioneering NK (natural killer) cell checkpoint therapy designed to boost the immune system’s ability to identify and eliminate cancer cells.

Clinical Trials and Positive Signals

Early clinical signals from ongoing Phase 1 studies in challenging tumor types have indicated promising results, bolstering confidence in the company’s immunotherapy platform. Zumutor believes that the funding will also enable combination studies of ZM008 across various cancer types as the organisation expands its clinical development efforts worldwide.

Global Reach and Vision

Based in Bengaluru, Zumutor operates in both India and the United States, contributing to a growing sector of Indian biotech firms that are creating novel cancer therapies aimed at global markets.
