iOS 27 AI Upgrades: What to Expect at WWDC 2026
iOS 27 developments are on the horizon as Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 approaches in just a month. There is a growing excitement surrounding the new software release, particularly around artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements. Significant updates such as a more advanced Siri experience and improved Visual Intelligence capabilities are expected. Below are the key upgrades to anticipate as the June event nears.
iOS 27 AI Upgrades: Anticipated Features
Siri App: With the launch of iOS 27, Apple is believed to be introducing a standalone Siri application featuring the “Extensions” functionality. This new app is set to be available across devices equipped with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. Furthermore, the voice assistant is anticipated to boast advanced features akin to contemporary AI chatbots, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude.
Within this application, users may engage with Siri using both voice and text inputs. Siri is expected to remember previous interactions and display past discussions, enabling a continuous dialogue rather than just isolated commands. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, recently remarked in an earnings call that there is excitement around providing a more personalised Siri experience for users this year.
Visual Intelligence Upgrades: Enhanced Functionality
The iOS 27 update is also likely to enhance the Visual Intelligence feature, allowing users to utilise the camera and AI to comprehend real-world text and items, subsequently executing beneficial actions. Reports indicate that this capability will include the ability to read and assess nutrition labels to discern calorie and nutrient content, such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, allowing this data to be saved to the Health app for tracking purposes.
Additionally, the Visual Intelligence feature may be equipped to scan business cards or documents containing contact details, automatically incorporating relevant information like phone numbers into the user’s Contacts app.
Alongside these advancements, there may be announcements regarding a partnership with Google to leverage its Gemini AI models in enhancing Apple’s AI functionalities. As the date for the June 8 WWDC 2026 keynote approaches, further updates are anticipated.
