As announced earlier in the week, Apple Intelligence now supports numerous languages, including Indian and Singaporean English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. This expansion represents the most significant advancement in Apple’s AI-powered personal system, combining system integration, generative AI, and robust privacy controls.

Apple’s new Writing Tools are now integrated across both native and third-party applications, permitting users to easily rewrite, proofread, and summarise their content. Whether it’s modifying the tone of an email, condensing lengthy Notes, or creating a poetic dinner invitation, users can specify their desired changes, allowing AI to handle the rest.

Images and Memories Enhanced

In addition to writing improvements, the Photos app has introduced a feature named ‘Clean Up’. This content-aware functionality enables users to eliminate unwanted elements from their pictures. Also, a more intelligent Memories feature now automatically generates highlight videos based on descriptions input by the user.

Image Playground for Creative Exploration

Creatives will find Image Playground, a new tool for image generation, accessible through Messages, Freeform, and other applications. This tool empowers users to create AI images using preset themes or personal photo references, encompassing styles like animation, illustration, or sketches. This visual AI functionality is further enhanced in Notes, where Image Wand can transform basic sketches or blank spaces into elaborate visuals based on contextual cues from handwritten or typed text.

In a significant development, Apple has integrated ChatGPT directly into both Siri and Writing Tools, enabling users to obtain responses and generate images from OpenAI without leaving the Apple ecosystem. Apple clarified that users can opt in to ChatGPT integration and have complete control over its use and information sharing. Notably, this integration is accessible even to those without an OpenAI account, maintaining enhanced privacy features.

Enhanced Visual Intelligence and Mail Efficiency

Visual Intelligence, a new on-device feature, assists users in identifying plants, translating signs, extracting calendar invitations from posters, or discovering product links, all activated via the iPhone’s Camera Control or customizable buttons.

Smart Mail Features for Better Organisation

In Mail, the Priority Messages feature highlights urgent emails, such as flight tickets or last-minute invitations, at the top of the inbox. Additionally, users can enjoy AI-generated summaries for lengthy email threads and utilise Smart Reply for prompt responses.
