At the Google Cloud Next ’26 opening keynote, the collaboration between Google and Apple was underlined by Thomas Kurian, who noted that Apple’s technology will be enhanced by Gemini AI. The head of Google Cloud emphasised Apple’s significance as a vital client and how Google intends to assist in the development and scaling of next-generation AI models for Apple.
Kurian mentioned that earlier this year, Google initiated a significant collaboration with one of the most recognised brands globally, aiming to leverage their technology for users worldwide. He added that Google will serve as Apple’s preferred cloud provider for the future generation of Apple Foundation Models powered by Gemini technology.

The Gemini AI models will fuel the features of Apple Intelligence as well as the anticipated redesign of Siri. Kurian indicated that a Gemini-enhanced version of Siri is expected to be unveiled by 2026.
Currently, Apple hasn’t specified a detailed timeline for the new Siri version; it has merely suggested that it will debut sometime in 2026. However, the initial features driven by Gemini and Apple Intelligence are likely to launch with the iOS 27 update. Confirmation for this may come during Apple’s WWDC 2026 event, which is set for June 8.
In addition to utilising Google’s Gemini technology, reports suggest that Apple might introduce a standalone Siri application. This would offer users a more interactive chatbot-like experience, allowing them to access their chat or conversation history. Siri is also anticipated to handle multiple commands from a single request, making it more intelligent and capable of conducting complex tasks.

Siri is also expected to undergo a visual refresh, with its glowing animation likely to be displayed in the Dynamic Island with a unique neon glow to indicate when the high-level AI capabilities powered by Gemini are active.
On January 12, a collaborative agreement between Google and Apple was announced, aimed at incorporating Gemini AI functionalities into Apple’s ecosystem. This partnership brings us closer to understanding Apple’s strategic advancements in AI through its collaboration with Google.
