Smartphone Loyalty Survey 2026: iPhone Dominates Over Android
Smartphone loyalty is notably higher among iPhone users compared to those using Android devices. The latest Smartphone Loyalty Survey 2026, executed by Sell Cell, indicates that iPhone loyalty currently stands at 96.4%. In contrast, Android loyalty is at 86.4%, revealing a significant 13.6% switch rate.
Growth in iPhone Loyalty
The survey involved feedback from over 5,000 users, indicating that loyalty towards iPhones has increased from 91.9% in 2021. Meanwhile, only 3.6% of iPhone users express intentions to switch, establishing Apple as a brand with one of the most faithful user bases in the tech landscape.
iPhone Dominance and Loyalty Gap
While iPhone maintains its dominance, Android also exhibits strong loyalty with 86.4% planning to remain with their devices. The crucial distinction is in the switching tendencies, as 13.6% of Android users are likely to switch, generating a 10% loyalty gap that demonstrates Apple’s strength in customer retention.
Samsung and Google’s Loyalty Trends
The loyalty of Samsung users has surged from 74% in 2021 to 90.1% in 2026. Likewise, Google’s loyalty has increased from 65.2% in 2021 to 86.8% in 2026. Among the small percentage of iPhone switchers, nearly 70% opt for Samsung, while around 20% choose Google. Conversely, 26.8% of Android users considering a switch would prefer an iPhone.
Reasons for Staying or Switching
The findings reveal that 60.8% of iPhone users remain loyal due to their preference for the Apple brand. Additionally, 17.4% maintain loyalty because of the integrated ecosystem that Apple provides, enriching their connection with various devices and services.
In contrast, Android users enjoy a broader range of device options, offering greater flexibility, which contributes to higher switching rates as they frequently explore alternatives. Some also perceive iPhones as expensive or feel that other brands present better offers.
Longevity in Smartphone Use
The survey highlighted user tenure, indicating that a remarkable 83.8% of iPhone users have been with the brand for over five years. In comparison, only 33.8% of Android users can claim similar long-term loyalty.
The study concludes that the smartphone market is stabilising, exhibiting stronger brand attachment and a reduction in frequent switching compared to both 2019 and 2021.
