Dan Shapero Takes the Helm as LinkedIn’s New CEO: What This Means for the Future

Microsoft has appointed Dan Shapero as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its LinkedIn division. He succeeds Ryan Roslansky, who has been at the helm of LinkedIn since 2020. Roslansky took on new roles within Microsoft’s Office division last year.

Before stepping into the CEO role, Shapero served as LinkedIn’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and joined the company in 2008 as the general manager of its Research Network. This transition is effective immediately, with Shapero reporting directly to Roslansky. This change underscores LinkedIn’s commitment to remaining a key player in an AI-driven workplace.

Shapero also made a statement on LinkedIn, highlighting the importance of economic opportunities and the value that LinkedIn offers in today’s AI-transformed world. He emphasized that professionals need to adapt to these changes.

He remarked that in his new position, much like his previous roles, he intends to begin with a focus on learning and listening. He plans to connect with team members, users, creators, and clients, all of whom contribute to making LinkedIn a platform for economic opportunity.

Furthermore, LinkedIn announced that Mohak Shroff has been named President of Platforms & Digital Work, reporting to Roslansky. Shroff’s responsibilities will involve overseeing innovation and technology strategy at LinkedIn, while also playing a role in Microsoft’s broader vision for the future of work. These leadership alterations come after LinkedIn reportedly reached $5 billion in quarterly revenue, indicating an annual run rate of $20 billion.
