Enhancing Internet Connectivity: DMRC Partners with Beckhaul Digital
Enhancing internet connectivity is a critical initiative as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reached an agreement with Beckhaul Digital Technologies to establish a 700 km fibre optic network across all metro lines, including the Airport Express Line. This project is set to improve telecom infrastructure, facilitate the rollout of 5G, and bolster smart city developments within the Delhi-NCR region.
Phased Implementation of Fibre Network
The deployment of the fibre network will occur in phases, starting with the Pink and Magenta Lines, as stated in an official announcement. The complete rollout is projected to wrap up within a six-month timeframe.
Benefits of the Advanced Fibre Network
The newly established fibre network is designed to act as a backbone for high-speed internet by aiding telecom operators, internet service providers (ISPs), and data centres. This infrastructure aims to improve digital connectivity and bridge network deficiencies in metro stations, tunnels, and underground areas.
Alignment with the Government’s Digital Vision
DMRC highlighted that this initiative corresponds with the Government of India’s objectives of creating a digitally connected nation. With 5G services expanding swiftly, an efficient metro fibre network will provide quicker, more reliable internet for commuters while optimising the existing infrastructure of DMRC.
Improving Mobile Coverage and Data Services
Moreover, the enhanced network will assist telecom providers in raising mobile coverage and delivering uninterrupted data services, especially in densely populated metro areas. This development is poised to significantly contribute to making Delhi a well-connected and future-ready city.
DMRC has officially partnered with Beckhaul Digital Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to implement and oversee a high-speed Optical Fiber Network across all metro corridors.
