Elon Musk Highlights Family Heritage and Indian Roots
Elon Musk has provided fresh insights regarding his family, confirming that his partner Shivon Zilis has Indian heritage. In a conversation on the podcast “WTF is?” hosted by Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath, Musk mentioned that the middle name of one of their sons is “Sekhar”, in tribute to the esteemed Indian-American physicist and Nobel laureate Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
Shivon Zilis’s Background
Musk elaborated on aspects of Zilis’s early life, disclosing that she was adopted as an infant. He noted, “She grew up in Canada. She was given up for adoption when she was a baby. I think her father was like an exchange student at the university or something like that.” He added, “I’m not certain about the precise details, but she was adopted and raised in Canada.”
Professional Life of Shivon Zilis
Zilis, who has been part of Neuralink since 2017, holds the position of Director of Operations and Special Projects at Musk’s innovative brain-interface enterprise. As a Yale graduate with qualifications in Economics and Philosophy, she shares four children with Musk: twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia, and son Seldon Lycurgus.
The Value of Indian Talent in the US
Throughout the podcast, Musk also touched upon the significant impact of Indian talent on the United States. He remarked, “America has greatly benefited from talent originating in India, but that appears to be shifting now.” He highlighted the stricter US visa regulations and prevailing policy uncertainties that are becoming increasingly off-putting for Indian professionals seeking opportunities in the nation.
