Facebook is enhancing user engagement with new features focused on building stronger connections between content creators and their followers. The latest updates, which include fan challenges and personalised top fan badges, aim to boost interaction and acknowledge loyal supporters.

Fan Challenges

The platform has introduced fan challenges, a feature enabling creators to prompt their followers to develop and share related content. Users can get involved by clicking on a challenge hashtag linked to a creator’s post or another fan’s submission.

A dedicated homepage for each challenge showcases a leaderboard that highlights entries with the highest reactions. This page serves as a central location for fans to explore additional submissions and for creators to engage with their audience. According to Facebook, more than 1.5 million entries have been submitted to challenges in the past three months, attracting engagement from over 10 million individuals. The company notes that creators can leverage this feature for brand promotion, campaign launches, and to enhance interaction.

Personalised Top Fan Badges

Facebook is also overhauling its top fan badge system. Creators now have the option to customise the badges awarded to their most active followers. These badges, which are given for consistent interaction, such as commenting and reacting to a creator’s content, appear beside a fan’s name in the comments section on the creator’s page.

When a creator rolls out a custom badge, eligible fans receive notifications to accept the new design. Facebook has indicated that more than 500 million users worldwide have accepted either a standard or a personalised top fan badge. Notable figures like Ed Sheeran, identified with “Sheerio,” and Cardi B, associated with “Bardi Gang,” have introduced unique badges for their communities. The company emphasises that these updates aim to celebrate fandom and cultivate stronger communities on the platform.
