Formula E Announces Groundbreaking 2025–26 Schedule Featuring New Venues in Madrid and Miami

2025–26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Provisional Calendar

Formula E and the FIA have unveiled the provisional calendar for the 2025–26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, boasting the most comprehensive schedule in the series’ history. This upcoming 12th season will feature 18 races spanning 12 cities, with the exciting addition of two new venues: Madrid and Miami.

Season Kickoff and New Venues

The season is set to commence in São Paulo, Brazil, on 6 December 2025, before moving on to Mexico City in January. Notably, on 31 January 2026, Formula E will race at the Miami International Autodrome for the first time, marking a considerable milestone for the series in the United States. This Florida event builds on the successful EVO Sessions event held at the same location in March 2025.

Key Highlights of the Season

February will witness a double-header in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, under the stunning night sky, while Spain will welcome its inaugural Formula E race in Madrid at the renowned Circuito de Madrid-Jarama on 21 March. This occasion marks the first World Championship motorsport event in the Spanish capital since 1989.

Returning favourites such as Berlin, Monaco, Tokyo, and Shanghai will also feature, with each city set to host double-header weekends. Monaco, often celebrated as the pinnacle of motorsport, will resume back-to-back races in May, following the triumph of its consecutive race debut earlier this year.

Finale and Additional Locations

The championship will conclude in London on 15–16 August 2026 with a double-header at the ExCeL Arena, bringing the GEN3 Evo era to a close before the GEN4 car is introduced in the upcoming season.

Two further locations are currently under negotiation and will be disclosed later upon final approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council.

Sustainability Commitment

Sustainability continues to be a core principle in the championship’s planning, with race weekends strategically grouped by continent to minimise carbon emissions associated with freight transportation.

Expert Insights

Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, commented on the new calendar: “This calendar is our most competitive yet, blending exciting new and existing venues with legendary circuits that define Formula E. With greater attention on calendar stability, we’re becoming easier to find, engage with and attend, unlocking greater fan loyalty and love.”

Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer, expressed excitement about the new circuits: “With at least two fantastic new circuits joining the impressive roster, including what will be a home race for myself in Madrid that has long been a goal of mine, we’re enhancing the diversity of what fans can expect while staying true to our DNA with a blend of city street and built circuit venues.”

Marek Nawarecki, Director of FIA Circuit Sport Department, stated: “The Season 12 calendar provides a world-class platform to showcase Formula E at its very best whilst offering a balanced presence in different regions, especially in those where the EV industry is developing.”

The forthcoming season is anticipated to sustain the series’ momentum, driven by increasing global viewership along with a growing interest in electric mobility and sustainability.
