Gemini AI Assistant is now integrated directly into the Chrome browser, marking an exciting development in user experience. Initially launched in the United States a year ago, this feature is set to expand on March 11, 2026, to users in India, New Zealand, and Canada, accompanied by support for various native languages.

According to a recent blog post by Google, Gemini AI will support over 50 additional languages, including Hindi, French, and Spanish. In particular, users in India will have the option to utilize the assistant in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil, making it one of the most linguistically diverse AI assistants available for browsers.
Technical Specifications of Gemini AI Assistant
The Gemini AI assistant in the Chrome browser runs on Google’s Gemini 3.1 model and is accessible for Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus users. Additionally, iOS users can also take advantage of Gemini in Chrome.
Using Gemini AI in Chrome
Google has stated that the Gemini AI assistant will be seamlessly integrated into the browser interface. Users can initiate the chat feature by clicking on the Gemini icon located in the top-right corner. This feature acts as a user’s personal browsing assistant, capable of summarising articles, answering questions, and even recalling previously visited pages.
Enhanced Multitasking Features
One of the most notable functionalities is its ability to operate across multiple tabs simultaneously. This makes it easier for users to compare information efficiently. For example, it can assist users in creating product comparisons among various shopping platforms.
Integration with Google Apps
Gemini in Chrome boasts integration with various Google applications, like Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube. Thanks to this feature, users can arrange meetings in their Calendar, find location information via Maps, and inquire about YouTube videos with ease.
Introducing Nano Banana 2 in Chrome
In addition to its AI-driven features, Google has introduced Nano Banana 2 directly in Chrome as well. With Gemini featured in the sidebar, users can prompt the AI to generate images directly, eliminating the necessity of opening the Gemini web version in a separate tab to access the Nano Banana 2 tool.
