Google Acquires Wiz for Enhanced Cloud Security

Google has taken over the cloud and AI security platform Wiz in a transaction estimated at $32 billion. The tech powerhouse announced that Wiz will join Google Cloud while upholding its dedication to securing customers across various cloud settings. This agreement is reportedly happening after Wiz achieved over $1 billion in recurring revenue in 2025.

Reasons Behind Google’s Acquisition of Wiz

Google indicated that this acquisition will enhance its cloud security features, particularly in multicloud environments. The organisation mentioned that it will assist businesses in developing more quickly and securely across cloud and AI platforms.

Furthermore, it remarked that as companies incorporate AI, adversaries are also utilising this technology to attack with increased speed and sophistication.

In a blog post, Google expressed that this acquisition represents an investment by Google Cloud to bolster cloud security, enabling organisations to thrive swiftly and securely across any cloud or AI platform.

Benefits of Collaboration with Wiz

Partnering with Wiz will grant Google a comprehensive security platform, enhancing the effectiveness of detecting, preventing, and responding to various security threats.

The blog highlighted that this partnership will allow them to stay ahead of the curve by identifying emerging threats stemming from AI models, safeguarding against risks to these models, and leveraging AI to assist security experts in more effectively hunting for threats.

Wiz’s Continued Operations Across Multiple Platforms

Even after the Google acquisition, Wiz will persist in its operations across various cloud platforms, not limited to Google’s services. These encompass Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Additionally, the tech giant aims to attract enterprise customers managing systems across diverse cloud platforms.

Reports suggest that Google initially approached Wiz in 2024 with a $23 billion acquisition offer. However, the deal did not materialise as Wiz opted out of the proposal. Discussions resumed between the two companies in early 2025, ultimately culminating in a revised all-cash deal amounting to $32 billion, which exceeds the original offer by $9 billion.
