Flex by Google Pay: The UPI-Powered Credit Card Solution in India

Flex by Google Pay has emerged as a digital-first, UPI-based credit card platform in India, developed in collaboration with Axis Bank. This innovative solution introduces the Google Pay Flex Axis Bank Credit Card, designed to facilitate effortless UPI-driven credit transactions. Underpinned by the RuPay network, this digital credit card integration transforms regular credit payments into a more convenient experience through the Google Pay app.

Understanding Flex by Google Pay: Features and Functionality

Traditional credit payment methods have been replaced with the introduction of a UPI-first approach by Google. Users can now scan and process payments via UPI, drawing funds from their credit limits instead of directly from their savings accounts.

The Flex card operates seamlessly within the Google Pay app, allowing users to apply for the Google Pay Flex Axis Bank Credit Card directly within the app itself. By completing a simple digital application and awaiting approval, users can quickly get started. Google highlighted that this solution offers the convenience of scanning to pay at countless offline merchants or checking out on preferred applications, catering to both small and large transactions.

Enhanced Card Management and Features

Beyond digital credit card capabilities, Google Pay also equips users with comprehensive card management tools. These features include setting transaction limits, the option to block or unblock the card, PIN resetting, and access to card details. Such controls enable users to manage their online spending efficiently within the app.

Moreover, Google Pay incentivises transactions by rewarding users with Stars for every qualifying payment. Each Star corresponds to Re 1, which can be utilized for future Flex payments, eliminating the necessity to wait for the monthly statement cycle. The Flex by Google Pay service is currently being rolled out in India, but users are required to join a waitlist to commence the application process.
